The PRLL Softball 12's won both ends of a final round doubleheader, 3-0 and 12-1, over New City to take the District 18 championship on Wednesday night on Valentine Field at the South Orangetown LL complex. PRLL's pitching was terrific, and several excellent fielding plays were made. Their bats exploded in the second game, which was ended by the mercy rule. At the end of the second inning, with PRLL leading, 6-0, there was a long lightning/rain delay, and the skies opened again during the final inning, but the rain did not dampen PR's post-game celebration, which included receiving the District 18 championship banner. NEXT: PRLL advances to the Section 3N Tournament, beginning on July 1 at 5:30 p.m. against Cornwall (winner of District 19) at the Pine Bush field. This is a three-team tournament. Winner of first game will play Eastchester (District 20) at Eastchester (Pat Henry field) on July 2 at 6:00 p.m. Loser will play the loser of Game 2 in Warwick on July 3 at 6:00 p.m.
